HOMECRAFTER FIX

For all of you experiencing problems with Homecrafter, please try this fix. I can't guarantee it will work for everyone, but it worked for me and I have assurances it has worked for others.
The original download link for Homecrafter on the EA site is dead and it doesn't look like they will fix it anytime soon, so I did a little digging and found a working install to replace it.

This guide will show you how to get Homecrafter Plus working

First, uninstall Homecrafter from your PC, this will get rid of any error files you have

Download the Homecrafter Program HERE You'll need Winzip to unzip it.


Install it, but don't try to run it

Now download this homecrafter.exe HERE and unzip to your desktop. You'll need Winzip to unzip it. Don't do anything with this yet.

Go to Start\My Computer\C:\Program Files OR Program Filesx86\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 HomeCrafter Plus\HCBin, here you will see the TS2HomeCrafterPlus.exe

Now go back to your desktop and right click and copy the exe (after unzipping) from your desktop and paste into the HCBin allowing this to overwrite the one there

Now right click the exe you replaced in the HCBin and send a shortcut to desktop.

You can now delete the exe you downloaded from the desktop, just leaving the shortcut. Homecrafter should now run.

Side note: If you experience any crashing when trying to run homecrafter (after sucessfully running it before) go into My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 and delete the files "ContentRegistry" - "Groups.cache" - "Accessory.cache"  and then try to run it again. This always works for me :-)
